Overall purpose of role
Product management is integral to the success of the business.
Product Managers are responsible for the product management agenda with the
primary aim of developing and managing the Banking Product Portfolio ie
savings, notice accounts, term deposits & current accounts.
They will support the development and delivery of differentiated
products and product suites within an overall product life cycle, clients'
needs framework and aligned to target client segmentation. They will ensure
that products are developed and delivered aware of the statutory and regulatory
obligations the business is exposed in the sale of products. In addition, product
managers are key to ensuring they are acutely aware of competition to ensure
products are differentiated and have USP.
In addition, Product managers will support the development and
maintenance of a framework to measure and monitor product portfolio
performance, profitability, as well as the housekeeping of products end-to-end.
Product Managers are responsible for
articulating the end-to-end product needs, risk and control requirements, and
operational requirements to deliver their product in a controlled, regulatory
and conduct compliant manner. They will partner with Chief Operating
Officer (COO), Risk Oversight & Control (ROC), Finance, Treasury and other
stakeholders to achieve this.
This is a hybrid role, in addition to product
management activities the role holder will support the local Cash &
Liquidity specialist with the banking distribution activity across Europe and
the booking of the fiduciary trades from Geneva. The Cash & Liquidity
specialist is responsible for achieving of the banking business objectives
(financial, quality and conduct) for their nominated business area. The
role holder will work with bankers and clients to win, retain and optimise
balance sheet deposits.
As a member of the broader PB Banking business, product managers
have clear responsibility to bring and leverage their expertise in order to
help the business to think and act in the wider context and interests of PB and
Barclays International. For example, delivery of overall strategy, marketplace
outcomes, innovation and cultural development.
Key Accountabilities
1.
Ensure fiduciary balance booking within agreed SLAs
·
Place
the trade coming from Geneva (Call, Notice, TD position) - Fiduciary service
onto the Monaco platform
·
Check
that the client trades coming from Geneva have the correct approval in place
(Deal Forum/CLS discretion)
·
Surpervise
the Geneva fiduciary trade booking across all their counterparties
2.
Provide FX and Treasury Coverage on ad hoc basis
·
Ensure
the coverage (back up basis) of the Geneva fiduciary trade booking across all
their counterparties
·
Ensure
the coverage (back up basis) of the bank FX position (cf. FX role profile)
·
Ensure
the coverage (back up basis) of the bank hedging position (cf. Treasury role
profile)
3.
Banking Distribution
·
Advise
bankers across Europe on available products and advise clients directly upon
request - provide regular update (i.e. week ahead calls)
·
Advise
bankers across Europe on latest bank appetite statement as well as counterparty
credit ratings
·
Provide
bankers with client bespoke letter template and perform 4 eyes check before
sending to clients
·
Prepare
Deal Forum cases and track the sanction expiries - update central team on
progress
·
Approve
booking in AVALOQ of Monaco Bespoke deposit (Notice Account for now, TD soon to
come)
·
Help
bankers/PBE with the booking process of Banking & Credit product AVALOQ
(reinforce written procedure if required)
4.
Support Banking Product Launch
·
Actively
contribute to the project scope and solutions design (booking, controls?)
including AVALOQ system solutions
·
Act
as a product SME for problem solving
·
Assist
with the coordination of local stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, CAM, Front
Office, Distributions, BDC, Finance, Credit Risk, Credit Operations?) to ensure
smooth landing of the solutions
·
Actively
contribute to UATs by providing test scripts and working closely with local
users
·
Provide
client collateral for distribution teams and ensure Intranet and Front office
portal up to date (both standard and bespoke documents)
·
Document
all procedures related to the product booking and its controls (inc. SOX)
·
Ensure
project is properly handed over to BAU teams (i.e. Distribution, Front Office?)
and provide support during transition period
5.
Manage Product lifecycle & Maintenance
·
Accountable
for standard rates update within the systems and prepare formal communication
for Front Office
·
Publish
daily standard rates to Front Office (inc. Fiduciary rates)
·
Feed
to the Product Annual Review
·
Raise,
own and follow up resolution of IT incident linked to any B&C product
·
Participate
to prioritization meeting for defect resolution (ensure budget has been secured
to that effect)
·
Review
procedures and update process documentation if required
·
Monitor
product is correctly booked in our systems to avoid anomalies
·
Report
anomalies if any and seek resolution with help of Distribution teams
·
Support
local teams with Regulatory reporting requirement (i.e. Banque de France)
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
·
Respond
in a timely fashion to all enquiries/requests for product information and/or
changes
·
Perform
initial analysis to assess need for requested changes and the potential impact
of these
·
Bring
recommendations to the Product Lead for guidance on decisions relating to new
and existing products
Decision-making and Problem Solving
·
Implement
outcomes of the continuous product portfolio review and development (life-cycle
management):
·
Define
systems and process changes associated with the continuous product portfolio
review will be a key responsibility and working with BD&C and IT teams to
implement such changes
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties
are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise
Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

support of BD&C, CCO and other functional areas, ensures currency and
compliance with relevant regulation, legislation and good market practice.

Ensures
products are aligned to client conduct framework for the product and client
needs framework.

Ensures
familiarity and compliance with all Bank policies and processes.

for contributing to a work environment for the Banking and Credit product teams
that drives results and positively energises and challenges team members.
